Dental treatment before surgery
Teeth can be reservoirs of bacteria if they are infected (apical granuloma, cyst, periodontitis).
These bacteria are located at the level of the teeth, which in turn communicate with the rest of the body through the bloodstream. They can therefore colonize the heart at the level of a natural or artificial valve, a vascular or orthopedic prosthesis.
It is therefore essential to eliminate any dental infection before undergoing valve, vascular, orthopaedic or renal surgery.
The procedure consists, most often, in the extraction of the infected tooth (s), an alternative solution will always be proposed.
